KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 – Renowned academician Tan Sri Dr Awang Had Salleh (photo), 79, passed away this morning.
According to his son Nazman, Awang Had died at about 3.03am at Putrajaya Hospital.
He said his father’s remains would be sent to another son’s house in Presint 10, Putrajaya before burial in Presint 20 today.
Awang Had’s son-in-law, who is also Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, said his father-in-law died fromlung complications.
Awang Had leaves a wife, Puan Sri Salmah Abu Bakar, 69, and five sons and two daughters.
His daughter, Norazlina, said her father would be buried after Zuhur prayers today.
She said her father had just celebrated his birthday on June 24.
