KUALA TERENGGANU, July 2- Terengganu PAS is studying the state constitution and enactment which says that the State Assembly Speaker can be the deciding factor.
Its commissioner Abdul Wahid Endut said the party’s lawyers would seek assistance from constitutional experts and knowledgeable individuals on the subject.
Yesterday, Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan and Besut Umno division chief Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said Barisan Nasional would continue to rule Terengganu although PAS won Kuala Besut seat.
A win for the opposition in Kuala Besut would leave Barisan Nasional and the opposition level with 16 seats each. “Since this is something new, we have to really study the matter. Our lawyers are already doing research on the Terengganu state constitution,” he told reporters at Terengganu PAS office here yesterday.
The Kuala Besut state seat fell vacant following the death of Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar of Barisan Nasional from lung cancer on June 26.
Dr A. Rahman won the seat with majority of 2,434 votes beating Napisah Ismail of PAS in the 13th general election (GE13).
