The clause in the bill which allows a minor to be converted with the consent of only one parent was seen as unparalleled by many, with the Cabinet decision on April 23, 2009.

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom would make the relevant announcement before or during the tabling of the Bill.
