JULY 10- Superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday broke his silence on the birth of his baby son AbRam through surrogacy by refuting reports of pre-birth sex determination test.
Shah Rukh, 47, said he did not comment earlier because he and wife Gauri were dealing with the health of the child who was born prematurely.
“Amid all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our newborn baby, AbRam. He was born prematurely but has finally come home. Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now,” he said in a statement.
“As a family, our silence on the subject has been because of the personal nature of emotional strife that we have been going through due to his health,” he said.
Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’ (BMC) said it would close the inquiry into the sex determination case as Shah Rukh came to know about the sex of the child only after he was born and not before.
The corporation will now send a report to the state government which had asked it to investigate the allegations after reports that Shah Rukh was to have a baby boy.
The BMC had received a detailed letter written by Shah Rukh’s secretary Karuna Badwal last week which detailed the entire sequence of events.
Badwal’s letter stated that the child was born on May 27 at Masrani hospital in Andheri and it was validated by the birth report that was submitted to BMC office on June 13.
The BMC has now decided that there was no violation of the PCPNDT Act by the actor, his family or the hospital. It will now send a health report to the state health department.
Health Minister Suresh Shetty had ordered the BMC to investigate the issue.
