KUALA BESUT, July 12 – Nomination for the Kuala Besut state by-election opened at 9 am today at the Rakan Muda Complex in Kampung Raja here. The nomination of candidates will be accepted for an hour up to 10 am.
The by-election is being held following the death of assemblyman Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar of the Barisan Nasional (BN) on June 26.
Kuala Besut has 17,683 voters, comprising 16,534 ordinary voters, 1,134 soldiers and their spouses, 14 policemen and an overseas absentee voter.
Advance voting for the by-election is on July 20 while polling is on July 24.
