KUALA BESUT, July 16 – In his bid to gain support and to ensure victory for Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Kuala Besut state by-election, Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman has met with over 50 per cent of the residents in the constituency.Affectionately known among the locals as ‘Abe Ku’, the BN candidate has also expressed confidence that his target to meet with all the 17,683 voters in Kuala Besut would be achieved soon.
“The response (from the voters) has been good so far.
“On the fifth day of campaign today, the BN election machinery and I are more excited to meet with more voters, especially the young ones. We will indeed continue intensifying the campaign.
“Even in certain polling centres controlled by PAS, we will use the same personal approach, that is by attending breaking of fast event, Tarawih prayer and moreh to win the hearts of the voters,” said the 37-year-old candidate.
Tengku Zaihan, a civil engineer, will face PAS candidate Endot alias Azlan Jusoh, 48, a businessman, in the Kuala Besut state by-election scheduled for July 24.
The by-election is being called following the death of its assemblyman Dr A Rahman on June 26.
