July 18 – Fuelling speculations further that he will take on Palanivel, Health Minister and MIC Deputy President Dato Seri Dr S.Subramaniam is meeting the Branch Chairmen from MIC Wilayah Persekutuan State Congress today evening at a leading hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The event is also keenly watched by MIC stalwarts since Wilayah Persekutuan is headed by Dato M.Saravanan who is leading the campaign to oust G.Palanivel. Saravanan is also expected to officially announce today his candidature for Deputy Presidency.
A key official of the MIC Wilayah Persekutuan said that today’s meeting is the answer to the frequently asked question whether Dr Subra will contest for the Presidency.
MIC’s political observers are surprised that Dr Subramaniam has finally come out in the open to meet the branch chairmen despite his earlier statements that he will only announce his candidature at the appropriate time.
If Dr Subra is going for Deputy Presidency why meet the branch chairmen now who would form the electoral composition for the presidential election?
Today’s meeting is also expected to be interesting as it comes the very next day of the President removing Vel Paari as CWC, who is the son of his predecessor.
Palanivel goes to Kuala Selangor
Meanwhile, Palanivel is scheduled to meet Branch Chairmen of MIC Kuala Selangor division today evening in Kuala Selangor. He is expected to outline his leadership’s vision for the party for next three years.
Palanivel is going to division by division, meeting only the branch chairmen. He is meeting them single handedly without any team. It is believed that he is only approaching the branch chairmen for the presidency without forming a team or identifying other potential candidates for his line-up.
Some of his close supporters say that he will not form any team under his leadership as he wants the party’s election to be open to all without any camps.
