KUALA BESUT, July 24 – The voting process in the by-election for the Kuala Besut state seat involving eight voting centres were under control as of noon Wednesday.

terengganuTerengganu Deputy Police Chief Datuk Hamzah Mohd Jamil said the police were satisfied with the voting process at all the polling centres although there were several minor commotions reported at several polling centres this morning.

He said that since the polling centres were opened at about 8am, almost 31 per cent of the voters had discharged their voting rights as at 10am.

“So far, we are satisfied with the running of the voting process and security personnel had been deployed to all polling centres to ensure everything ran smoothly since 6am,” he told reporters at a media conference at the Besut district police headquarters, here today.

He said the traffic flow was rather slow at several places as residents who were heading for work had slowed down to look at the situation.

About 3,000 police personnel including 200 officers were involved in controlling the election campaign since July 12 until polling day today.
