KEPALA BATAS, July 26- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has extended aid to 7,261 mosques nationwide through the Putera 1Malaysia Club (KP1M) in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
KP1M president Datuk Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim said that until yesterday, the club had presented the aid to mosques in eight states, including 215 in Penang.
He said the aid comprised of 10 kg of dates and 20 litres of zam-zam water for each mosque as well as sarung pelikat and cloth for robes for each member of mosque committees.
“The other mosques in six more states will get the aid by next week,” he told reporters after presenting to contribution to imams from Penang here Thursday night.
Earlier, Abdul Azeez, who is also member of Parliament for Baling and Member of Parliament for Kepala Batas Datuk Seri Reeezal Merican Naina Merican attended a Nuzul al-Quran event hosted by the Kepala Batas Umno division at the Jamiul Badawi Mosque here.
At the event, Reezal Merican gave out aid to the poor to enable them to make preparations for Aidilfitri.
