HARARE, July 26 – President Robert Mugabe has declared July 31 as a public holiday to enable people to vote in the election on the day, Zimbabwean news agency New Ziana reported.
The declaration was made according to Section 2 (2) of the Public Holidays and Prohibition of Business Act Chapter 10:21 through a government gazette published on Thursday.
Zimbabwe will go to the polls to elect a new government that will replace a coalition government in power since 2009.
President Mugabe is among several presidential contenders and has been widely tipped to win.
