KUALA LUMPUR, July 27- The government will form Integrity Units in each and every public agency to give added focus on integrity matters, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator Datuk Paul Low Seng Kuan.

He added that through high integrity among civil servants, the government expected the people’s confidence in public agencies to be boosted.

Low said the unit would be responsible for implementing six thrusts to attain high integrity in public agencies namely proper administration, strenthening integrity, detection and verification, complaints management, following procedures and being disciplined.

In line with the move, he said the responsibility currently handled by various divisions would be migrated to the unit which would be based on a fixed model that had been cleared by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

For this year, he said the focus of the initiative would be on agencies whose worth were more than RM1 billion.

As for ministries, Low said additional criterias which were more stringent than that for the agencies under them would be imposed.

He said the organisational structure of the unit would be handled by the Organisational Development Division under the Prime Minister’s Department and the Public Service Department with the head being a Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO) or one whose qualification is recognised by the Integrity Officer Accreditation Board.
