High-Powered Probe Into Attempted Murder Of MyWatch Chairman – IGP

khalidKUALA LUMPUR, July 29- A police probe into the attempted murder of anti-crime watchdog MyWatch chairman R. Sri Sanjeevan in Negeri Sembilan yesterday, will focus on his earlier allegation on twitter that a policeman had recruited a syndicate member to fire shots at his house.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said this would be among several aspects of the investigation as the Bukit Aman police get to the bottom of the case.

He said Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah would head a special task force to supervise the investigation and wished Sri Sanjeevan a speedy recovery to assist in the case.

“I assure the (Sri Sanjeevan’s) family and the public that our investigation will be thorough and look into all aspects, including those alleged by SS (Sri Sanjeevan) earlier,” Khalid tweeted.

sanjeevanOn Saturday, the 29-year-old was shot and injured in the abdomen by a man riding pillion on a motorcycle which pulled alongside the victims’s silver BMW car when he wound down his window for a puff.

The incident occurred about 4.30pm, at a junction near Taman Awana Indah in Jempol, Negeri Sembilan.

Prior to the incident, Sri Sanjeevan had tweeted in @SanjeevanSS: “A@PDRMsia cop told some syndicate fellow that he’ll get them firearm & told them to fire few shots at my house to scare me/family!”.

Meanwhile, former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Musa Hassan visited the MyWatch chairman at the Seremben Hospital where his condition was described as critical but stable.

Musa tweeted that public safety would be ensured if police integrity was intact.

He hoped the police would conduct a thorough investigation to track down those behind the shooting incident as Sri Sanjeevan had received several threats before.
