Kuala Lumpur – MIC Treasurer General Datuk Seri S.Vel Paari has called on the IGP Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to take action against controversial Islamic scholar and preacher Zakir Naik and PERKASA for supporting him.
The following is the full text of press statement released by Vel Paari:-
“In view of two recent developments in India with respect to Zakir Naik and his Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) and in view of the following:
(i) A request from the Indian authorities for a red notice to be issued by INTERPOL against Zakir Naik;
(ii) Recent India’s court findings that there are sufficient evidence and reasons to proof that Zakir Naik and his foundation IRF are seen as threats to India’s security. I now call upon the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and the Royal Malaysian Police Force to arrest Zaik Naik and deport him immediately to India to face the Indian authorities.
This is similar to the action taken by the Malaysian government which had recently arrested and deported 3 Turkish nationals and a Saudi journalist about few years ago back to Saudi Arabia without a red notice being issued by INTERPOL. What is more shocking is that India’s investigation revealed Zakir Naik’s link with ISIS and the influence of his teaching on the suspects involved in a terrorist attack in Bangladesh a few months ago. It is said that those attackers were inspired by Zakir Naik’s teachings. This clearly proves that having him still roaming freely in our country is a threat to Malaysians in particular and the country in general. I also call upon the IGP to commence investigation upon Zakir’s sympathisers especially PERKASA which has been protecting and helping him all this while.
Furthermore, the IGP must also commence investigation on those who invited him into Malaysia in the first place and gave him the access to obtain a Permanent Residence (PR) status.
I really hope the government will not allow elements like Zakir Naik to use Malaysia as his focal point to spread his evilness to the world. His evilness has caused death and life to be lost. Instead let us work together to continue preserving the peace and harmony of our country”
