KUALA LUMPUR, July 31- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been directed to take action on a YouTube video titled “Video Menghina Islam 1 Hari di Hari Raya”, which allegedly insulted Islam.
Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Jailani Johari said the commission was instructed to immediately carry out investigations on the video which could affect Muslim sensitivities.
“I’ve received many questions on this although the MCMC has yet to get any report on the matter. Therefore I directed the commission to investigate the video,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.
The video, which lasts 1 minute and 44 seconds, shows a man known as Chatz strolling near a mosque with three dogs with the ‘takbir raya’ playing in the background.
The recording also portrays a man in a black Baju Melayu performing ablution before preparing kuih raya for his dog. It also broadcasts the words “Raikanlah Aidilfitri bersama-sama, tanpa mengira spesis, warna, asal usul” (Celebrate Aidilfitri together regardless of species, colour, origin) while featuring a shot of the three dogs.
