Airbus Delivers Its 8,000th A320 To AirAsia Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6- Airbus today delivered its 8,000th A320 aircraft to the Indonesian wing of Air Asia at its base in Jakarta.

Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandez said Air Asia had a long-standing, special relationship with Airbus, making it proud to have the 8,000th Airbus aircraft as a member of its fleet.

Fernandez said the excellent fuel efficiency and economics of Airbus aircraft were the key contributors to Air Asia’s success, adding that the largest low-cost airline was confident the modern aircraft would enable it to continue its growth plans.

The statement also said the delivery of the Airbus aircraft highlighted the manufacturer’s position as a leader in the civil aircraft market, delivering airlines the most advanced, fuel efficient family and aircraft available today.

The product line is also the most comprehensive ever offered by an aircraft manufacturer, covering every segment of the market from 100 to over 500 seats.

Air Asia Group is the largest low-cost airline in Asia and operates an all-Airbus fleet.
