GEORGE TOWN, Aug 26 – Dewan Rakyat speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia led 1,085 award and medal recipients in conjunction with the 75th Birthday of Penang Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas at an investiture ceremony held in Dewan Sri Pinang here, Sunday.
Pandikar Amin, 58, was the sole recipient of the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (DUPN) which carried the title Datuk Seri Utama.
Four recipients were bestowed the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN) which carries the title Datuk Seri.
They were Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Muhamad Zabidi Zainal, IGB Bhd managing director Robert Tan Chun Meng, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Board of Governor chairman Prof Datuk Dr Md Salleh Yaapar, and a corporate figure, Datuk Seri H’ng Bok San.
Six recipients received the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN) which also carries the title Datuk Seri.
They were Royal Malaysian Navy deputy chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar, Housing and Local Government Ministry secretary-general Datuk Arfah Abdul Razak, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Board of Governor member Datuk Jamaludin Hasan, Malaysia’s first female orchestra conductor Datuk Ooi Chean See, R.A Group of Companies founder Datuk R. Arunasalam and Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration panel member Datuk Shaik Daud Md Ismail.
Twelve people were conferred the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN) which carries the title Datuk.
They were Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, Army deputy chief Lt-Gen Datuk Seri Panglima Ahmad Hasbullah Mohd Nawawi, Penang Real Estate and Housing Developers Association (Rehda) chairman Datuk Jerry Chan Fook Sing, Penang State Assembly speaker Law Choo Kiang, Penang High Court judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin and Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohd Rashid Hasnon.
The others were Thye Huat Chan Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Ng Tee Soo, Penang Pentell Marketing Sdn Bhd director Datuk Tan Gin Soon, Malaysian Weightlifting Federation president Datuk Ong Poh Eng, USM vice-chancellor Datuk Omar Osman, SAA Resources Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Shaik Aqmal Shaik Alaudin and Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Sixty-eight recipients were awarded the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) which also carries the title Datuk.
They included Penang High Court judge Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, Penang education director Ahmad Tarmizi Kamaruddin, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) assistant vice-chancellor (research) Prof Dr Abu Bakar Abdul Majeed, Agriculture Department deputy director-general (operations) Ahmad Zakaria Mohamad Sidek and National Blood Bank director Dr Roshida Hassan.
Sixty people received the Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN), Bintang Cemerlang Negeri (BCN) (39), Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (PKT) (165), Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) (413), Pingat Jasa Masyarakat (PJM) (235) and Pingat Bakti Setia (PBS) (82).
The investiture ceremony, which was supposed to be held on July 13, was postponed to today, as it fell during the fasting month of Ramadan.
