KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24- Politicians in Malaysia should emulate former Thailand prime minister Chuan Leekpai who is still active in serving the parliament even without holding any important post in the government, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said.
He said this after receiving a courtesy call from Chuan, who is now Thailand’s Democrat Party chief adviser, and Thailand-Malaysia Parliamentary Fried president Narong Duding, together with their delegates at the Parliament House here yesterday.
“This scenario is not common in Malaysia. Unlike Chuan, once the Malaysian politicians found themselves without any post in the government, they will also lose all interests to serve or debate for the government,” said Pandikar Amin who was also impressed with Narong’s ability to speak fluently in Malay language.
During the 45-minute call, they also discussed various matters, including Malaysia-Thai border issues, trade and tourism.
Earlier, the Thai delegates also paid a courtesy call to the Senate President Tan Sri Abu Zahar Ujang.
