MELBOURNE, Aug 27 – Malaysia Airlines will increase its double daily operations from Sydney with an addition of four services a week, totalling up to 18 flights a week from Nov 21.

Thereafter, the airline will mount its triple daily services between Sydney and Kuala Lumpur from Feb 5.

Starting from Nov 22, Malaysia Airlines flight MH142 will depart Sydney every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8.50am and will arrive in Kuala Lumpur at 2.15pm the same day.

mas-airbus-a380The return flight, MH143 will depart Kuala Lumpur every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7.30pm and will arrive in Sydney at 6.25am the following day, the airline said in a statement.

The additional services will be operated by the B777-200, which is configured with 35 seats in business class and 245 seats in economy class.

Beginning Feb 5, the Malaysian national carrier will increase its offering on the Sydney – Kuala Lumpur – Sydney route from 18 to 21 flights weekly, offering triple daily services.

This will increase the capacity to 11,886 seats a week, representing 50 per cent capacity growth. The third daily service will be operated by the new A330-300 aircraft.

“The new A330-300 aircraft offer our customers the latest innovation in terms of passenger comfort and features new interior that includes mood lighting in all cabins and spacious overhead baggage compartments, the statement added.

Malaysia Airlines’ Regional Senior Vice-President Lee Poh Kait said the triple daily flights would support growing demand from Australia.

From next February, the airline will operate 75 services every week from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin to Kuala Lumpur with convenient connections to more than 60 destinations around the world.

In addition, Malaysia Airlines network has expanded through its various code share agreements and its membership in oneworld airline alliance since February this year, the statement added.
