KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 31- Do not let the Umno elections in October affect unity as it will cause Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to lose respect for the party.
Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the candidates contesting for posts should be responsible and not be overzealous as it could divide the party.
Instead, the candidates should maintain unity as Umno should be an example to other BN component parties after winning more seats in the 13th general election.
“Other BN component parties will not respect us if Umno is not united,” he told reporters after attending the Aidilfitri open house of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) here Friday.
