NEW DELHI, Sept 3 – The Malaysian High Commission in New Delhi celebrated the 56th Merdeka Day with fellow Malaysians Monday.
About 250 people, including Malaysian expatriates and members of diplomatic missions here, attended the event hosted by Acting Malaysian High Commissioner to India Raszlan Abdul Rashid at the Taj Palace Hotel here.
India’s Minister of State for Human Resources Development Shashi Tharoor was the guest of honour.
The National anthems of both nations were played.
In KARACHI, Pakistan, the Malaysian Consulate-General Office held a flag-hoisting ceremony to mark the anniversary of the independence.
Clad in colourful traditional outfits, the Malaysians present sang the “Negaraku” during the ceremony.
