KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6- MCA has withdrawn a three-year suspension order issued on Pulai Sebatang state assemblyman Datuk Tee Siew Keong (photo) and reinstated his membership in the party with immediate effect.
MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said the decision was made after Tee had made an appeal with supporting documents, including an official letter from the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar in which Tee was appointed a state exco member by the Sultan.
“We (central committee) studied the appeal and the documents submitted by Tee before making a decision,” he told reporters after chairing the Party’s Central Committee meeting, in the capital, Thursday.
With the latest development, Tee would also be reinstated as a member of the Central Committee and can stand for election.
On June 20, the MCA had suspended Tee for three years for accepting the post of state Tourism, Domestic Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman.
The MCA had decided not to accept any government posts to abide by its resolution following its dismal performance in the last general election.
