KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will submit its written representation to the Malaysia Competition Commission (MyCC) before Oct 18, 2013.
In response to the commission’s proposal to impose a penalty of RM10 million on the airline, MAS said it would also indicate whether it intended to make an oral representation before the same date.
“Currently, MAS is reviewing the proposed decision in consultation with its legal counsel,” it said in a statement Monday.
MAS had been served with a Notice of Proposed Decision on Sept 6, 2013 by MyCC pursuant to Section 36 of the Competition Act 2010.
The decision is premised on an alleged breach by MAS of Section 4(2)(b) of the Competition Act 2010 in entering into the Comprehensive Collaboration Framework of Aug 9, 2011 made between MAS, Air Asia and Air Asia X.
MyCC alleged that the agreement had the objective of sharing markets in air transport services sectors within Malaysia.
The particular routes under scrutiny were Kuala Lumpur-Kuching, Kuala Lumpur-Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur-Sandakan and Kuala Lumpur-Sibu routes.
