Malindo Air Takes Delivery Of Fifth And Sixth B737-900ER Aircraft

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 – Malindo Air, Malaysia’s hybrid airline, Monday took delivery of its fifth and sixth Boeing 737-900ER aircraft, bringing the total number of its fleet to nine aircraft which includes three ATR72-600.

Malindo-AirThe new aircraft arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport this afternoon and was placed in operation after leaving Boeing’s facility in Seattle, United States on Sunday.

The new aircraft is part of Malindo Air’s growth strategy to operate brand new aircraft and to take on new aircraft deliveries until 2015 in tandem with the current aviation market demand.

“This is an important milestone for Malindo Air. We have been witnessing gradual growth in the aviation industry over the last few years driven by a continued increase in consumer confidence and spending,” said Chief Executive Officer Chandran Rama Muthy in a statement.

He said Malindo Air was certain these modern aircraft would help fulfil its ambitious growth plans.

To date, Malindo Air has taken delivery of six Boeing 737-900ERs since the company’s official launch on March 22, 2013.

“Every aircraft we inaugurate passes through a diligent review process by our team and the manufacturers.

“The whole process covers aircraft customisation, standards review and stringent quality checks of aircraft parts and components, all validated by our Malindo Air team, inspectors from the Department of Civil Aviation Malaysia and the manufacturers,” Chandran added.
