Indian Tourism Minister Resigns Over Creation Of New State

Chiranjeevi_PTINEW DELHI, Oct 5- India’s Tourism Minister K.  has resigned in protest against the central government’s decision to form a separate state of Telangana to be carved out of southern state of Andhra Pradesh, sources said Friday.

“The minister faxed his resignation to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh late Thursday night,” Xinhua news agency reported sources said as saying.

The actor turned politican was dismayed by the decision to form India’s 29th state.

The Indian Cabinet on Thursday formally approved the formation of Telangana despite protests from senior ruling Congress party leaders in Andhra Pradesh, who were unhappy with the prospect of sharing its capital Hyderabad between two states.
