Petaling Jaya, Oct 24 – A bank officer was shot dead by a guard of his own bank when the latter committed a robbery at the bank concerned in Jalan USJ Central 2, Subang Jaya this afternoon.
Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said in the 6.18pm incident, the victim, Noazita Abu Talib (she), 37, was shot in the face by the 37-year-old guard after she had opened the bank’s strong room with four other colleagues.
“During the incident, the suspect was about to put some money in a bag when he suddenly shot the officer and ran away with the money. “We have launched a manhunt for the suspect who escaped on a motorcycle,” he told reporters at the scene.
He said Noazita had been with the bank for 16 years.
According to Abdul Rahim, the suspect was actually supposed to work at another bank but had substituted another guard at this bank today after the latter did not turn up for work.
“Our investigations show the Mykad used by the suspect does not exist in the system. Police will get to the bottom of this with the assistance of the National Registration Department,” he said.
