October 25 – Think doing your own nails can never look as good as when they’re done by a pro? That’s all about to change. The secret to the perfect manicure is in the step-by-step.
1.Collect everything you will need
2.Get your scissors/clippers and cut them a bit, so they are ok to work with
3. File your nails into any shape you want to
-WARNING: make sure they are completely dry, as filing wet nails can cause splitting.
4. Soak your nails. Apply some hand cream first. Then soak for a few minutes. This will soften the cuticles.
5. Push back the cuticles (the cuticles are the parts of skin then slightly overlap your nails) as this will protect the nails from infections.
6. Dry the nails thoroughly
7. Use a cotton wool bud to slightly add a shine
8. Apply a base coat
9. Brush on two thin coats of colour, waiting a couple of minutes after each hand. Use three strokes on each nail on either side of the nail, then a swipe of colour across the tip to prevent chips.
10. Apply a top coat. This will give a shine to your nails, and protect the polish
11. Clean up any colour outside the edges of your nails with a cotton wool bud dipped in polish remover.
