Kuala Lumpur, Oct 29 -Tourism Malaysia must work doubly hard to ensure higher Chinese tourist arrivals to Malaysia during Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2014 given the highly competitive tourism industry, said Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
“China is a fast growing and a key tourism market for Malaysia.
“In conjunction with the VMY 2014 and the rapidly growing Chinese outbound market, Tourism Malaysia plans to participate on a larger scale in the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2014,” she said in a statement today.
CITM 2014, the largest annual professional travel mart in Asia, attracts thousands of travel industry professionals from all over the world.
She said besides securing a larger space for the Malaysia Pavilion at CITM, Tourism Malaysia would also bring a cultural troupe and hold road shows in several key Chinese cities.
She led the Tourism Malaysia delegation to the four-day CITM 2013 held at the Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Centre (KICEC), which ended last Sunday.
Tourism Malaysia had 13 booths, featuring 23 organisations comprising Sabah and Sarawak state Tourism offices, Malaysia My Second Home Association, 13 travel agencies, seven hotels and resorts.
