Kuala Lumpur, Dec 2 – Online applications for the Projek Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia (PR1MA) has reached 30,000 so far said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
He said work on the PR1MA housing project was expected to start next year.
“The number of PR1MA houses to be built will depend on discussions held. Right now the PR1MA project in Alam Damai, Cheras has started,” he said when answering a question by Alice Lau Kiong Yieng (DAP-Lanang) at the Dewan Rakyat, here, Monday.
Shahidan when answering a question from Hasbi Habibollah (BN-Limbang), said the construction of PR1MA houses was focused at assisting the middle income group in cities and suburbs as they are finding it difficult to buy houses in the cities.
“Even those who are young and not married can apply for PR1MA houses from a variety of units like a one room condominium, one plus one room condominium, two plus one room condominium or four-room houses,” he said.
Shahidan said PR1MA projects in Sarawak would be carried out in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri.
“There is no objection to build PR1MA houses in Limbang if there is a high demand in the area,” he said.
