Ipoh, Dec 12 – A new airline in Perak, Flying Fox Airways which offers Ipoh-Medan flights, had to postpone its flights following upgrading works being carried out on the runway at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, here.

Its chief executive officer Daniel Lee said the state government recently issued a postponement order until June next year to the company which was scheduled to start its flying operations on Friday.

“The state government had said that only the ATR 72 type of aircraft can land at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport currently. Our company only uses the Boeing 737-400 aircraft and they cannot land at the airport,” he told reporters at his office, here Wednesday.

The company would reimburse passengers who had paid for their air tickets including passengers from Medan to Ipoh, he said.

Lee said the ATR-72 could only carry 72 passengers compared with the 168-passenger capacity of the Boeing 737-400.
