Phnom Penh, Jan 23 – The Ministry of Commerce said Cambodia recorded a 34 percent increase in dry rubber exports last year thanks to rising global demand, Xinhua news agency reported.

Dry rubber exports reached 74,200 tonnes last year, up 34 percent from 55,344 tonnes a year earlier and earning US$170 million in revenue.

Cambodian Rubber Association president Mok Kimhong said Thursday a tonne of dry rubber costs about US$2,200 this week compared to US$3,290 at the same time last year.

“Rubber demand is still rising but the price is not good — it is still on a downward trend,” he said.

Rubber export destinations include China, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and a number of European countries.
