Tan-Sri-Khalid-Abu-BakarKuala Lumpur, Feb 17 – Police have opened another investigation paper on claims of violation of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 involving early campaigning for the Kajang state seat by-election.

Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said this brought to four the number of investigation papers opened because the individuals concerned did not submit a written application 10 days before conducting the campaign.

“We will take action against those who violated the Act. We have opened investigation papers and will discuss the matter with the Attorney-General.

“Some investigations have been completed. We are not focusing on the same individual. Let us investigate first. Once it is completed, we will bring it to court, then we will know the individuals concerned,” he said.

Khalid said this after the presentation of letters of appreciation to courteous road users and best district or contingent during the Chinese New Year ‘Op Selamat 4/2014’ at KL Sentral, in the capital, Monday.

Selangor deputy police chief, Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar had earlier been reported as confirming that three investigation papers had been opened about opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim under Section 9(5) of the Act because the police were not informed earlier of the election campaign he conducted.

In another development, Khalid said police were holding discussions with the Attorney-General on the investigation into the video clip produced by Seputeh MP Teresa Kok which was allegedly seditious.

“We will continue the investigation and I want the person who made the video to stop. It seems that there will be a Bahasa Malaysia version. I say enough, as Malaysians can understand even in Chinese.

“Enough with the hate campaign against certain people. What is the purpose? It will only disrupt harmony in our society,” Khalid said.

On the tunnel incident involving the T-Team and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the Tan Sri Haji Hassan Yunos Stadium in Larkin, Johor Baharu on Feb 1, IGP said police would be calling more witnesses to assist in the investigation.
