KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has praised Datuk Lee Chong Wei for winning the All-England 2014 badminton championship in Birmingham, England early this morning (local time).
Chong Wei, the world number one singles player, defeated traditional rival Chen Long from China in the final, in two sets 21-13 and 21-18.
“Chong Wei has made Malaysia proud once again. He showed a lot of tenacity and determination. A class act to be remembered for a long time,” Najib said on his Twitter’s account today.
In a separate tweet, Najib said: “Chong Wei just called my wife n I. We told him how proud we are of his victory.”
Chong Wei had won the title twice in 2010 and 2011.
