mijwan-18_040314104647New Delhi, April 3 – Just like in the movies, the boys of Bollywood put their best foot forward to walk the ramp for women’s cause at a fashion show in Mumbai on Tuesday evening.

Hosted by leading jewellery brand P. C. Jeweller and actorcum- social activist Shabana Azmi, the event titled ‘ Men for Mijwan – by Manish Malhotra’ saw the biggest names in Indian cinema as showstoppers, including leading actors Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar and Ranbir Kapoor.

The electric affair showcased elaborate ensembles with chikan work done by Mijwan girls and designed by Manish Malhotra, for Azmi’s NGO Mijwan Welfare Society ( MWS). Each star looked better than the other as they walked alongside models.

While Bachchan donned the most intricate piece of an elaborate gold and black bandhgala sherwani with a Patiala pyjama and red velvet loafers, Akshay Kumar brought his Punjabi spirit to the fore in a black full- sleeved bandhgala jacket with white buttons, kurta and churidaar and brown juttis.

The same combination was sported by Siddharth Malhotra who wore a jacket, kurta and black pleated Patiala salwar. Adding strength to the show was the prince of Bollywood Ranbir Kapoor, who sportingly flaunted his muscles in a nawabi white embroidered achkan , gold bordered white shawl, grey loose pants and pointed juttis .

Lastly, Farhan Akhtar rocked a blue embroidered achkan , straight pants and black velvet and gold embroidered juttis. Designer Malhotra got a special ovation as the suited gentlemen lifted him on their shoulders.

Female attention from actresses was at peak, with beauties Sushmita Sen, Kajol, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kalki Koechlin, Richa Chadda, Dia Mirza, Parineeti Chopra, Tanisha, and Jaya Bahaduri in arms to cheer the heroes on.

The ladies looked pretty and fresh in embroidered ensembles in shades of cream, pink and nude with gold accents. Event showcased elaborate ensembles with chikan work done by Mijwan girls and designed by Manish for Shabana’s NGO Mijwan Welfare Society.
