Two days after two German tourists were missing off western Philippines, the military said amid fears of a possible kidnap. Stephan Victor Okoveix, 71, and Henrike Diesen, 55, went missing while sailing from the province of Palawan to Sabah in Malaysia in late April, said Lieutenant General Roy Deveraturda, a regional military commander.
Last month, al Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf rebels kidnapped a Chinese tourist and a Filipino resort worker in the Malaysian town of Semporna on April 2.
The rebels are believed to be also holding captive two European bird watchers abducted in February 2012.Last year, a Taiwanese woman was kidnapped in another Semporna resort and was recovered more than a month later in the nearby southern Philippine island of Jolo, Sulu a known base for al-Qaeda-linked Abu Sayyaf rebels.
