KUALA TERENGGANU, May 13 — State Assemblyman for Bukit Besi Roslee Daud has withdrawn his resignation from Umno and returned as a Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representative.
This was confirmed by the State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Culture, Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafee.
Mohd Jidin, who is also the State Assemblyman for Permaisuri, said Roslee had withdrawn his decision to leave Umno and become an Independent Assemblyman after being advised by his Umno colleagues.
“Why he made the decision early this morning no longer needs to be explained. But, what is important is that we in the party must be united,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
Mohd Jidin hoped the political situation in the state could be handled properly.
Earlier, Roslee had declared that he had left Umno and had become an Independent assemblyman after former Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who is also Kijal Assemblyman, and Ajil Assemblyman Ghazali Taib had left the party.
They did so after the new Terengganu Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman took his oath of office before the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Syarqiyyah last night.
With the latest development, BN now holds 16 seats in the State Legislative Assembly (including the vote of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly) while PAS has 14 seats, PKR (1) and Independent (2).
