June 7 – Nine days after their daughters were brutally raped and murdered, the family of the Badaun gangrape victims has decided to shift out of the state for their safety and to continue their fight for justice.
“Today there is media and people are also coming to extend their sympathies, but as soon as all these would stop, these musclemen can do anything to us,” father of one of the teenaged victims said.
Alleging that police was trying to hush up the matter from the very first day, he said musclemen of the village were active and the family was continuously getting threats to save the accused.
“Despite police security, the family is getting threats of all kinds and we fear that if we stay here, the entire family would be eliminated,” the father said, adding we have little hope of getting help from the government or the administration.
He said that they would not only leave the village or district but also the state and shift to Delhi. “The family has made up its mind to shift to Delhi leaving behind all our belongings, and we are preparing for the same,” he said.
He vowed that while living in Delhi the family would continue their fight for justice to their daughters and till all the accused were not punished for their heinous crime. The father rued that the leaders of all parties came to meet them but “Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has no time to come to meet us.”
