New Delhi, June 18 – Today in Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will take the stage in an event in Seattle. Normally, at such yearly events the eccentric Aamzon mogul announces new Kindle based hardware, including the blockbuster e-readers and the Android (Fire OS) based Kindle Fire tablets.
Things could be a little different today. Many expect a smartphone. Reports about this mythical smartphone have been leaking for months. This device reportedly has been in the works for 5 years at Amazon’s LAB126 according to Brad Stone, who also recently published “The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the age of Amazon”.
A lot is expected off the device and some consider it will be the most game changing mobile device since the original iPhone. We take a look at what to expect from the device.
Camera technology:
The biggest deal about the device is the camera technology that it employs. The phone will sport four cameras in addition to the standard front and rear cameras to facilitate a 3D effect on the screen.
While 3D screen have there before on phones like the LG Optimus 3D and the HTC Evo 3D, Amazon’s phone will not have the parallax issues that plagued previous smartphones. The six camera will be able to track the users head to produce a 3D effect on a normal LCD screen.
According to Bloomberg, one of the biggest inspirations for such a screen was a demo by now Google employee Johnny Chung Lee, who used the Nintendo Wii remote and custom software to create head tracking technology. Rumours suggest the six cameras on the Amazon phone will allow for similar functionality.
