GEORGE TOWN, June 28 – A skinned cow head was left at the front gate of the house of Seri Delima state assemblyman R.S.N Rayer in Tingkat Tembaga, Island Park, here SaturdayRayer said the gruesome find was discovered by his wife when she was opening the front gate at 7 am.
“My wife said a passer-by told her that a skinned cow head was in front of the gate. I immediately called the police and informed Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng about it,” he told reporters at his house, here.
He regretted the act of leaving the cow head in front of his house and hopes the police will conduct an investigation.
When met at the scene, North-east district police chief ACP Mior Faridaalthrash Wahid said they had studied CCTV footage that showed a man in front of Rayer’s house.
“The CCTV footage shows a man arriving on a motorcycle and placing the skinned cow head in front of the state assemblyman’s house.
“Further investigation is in progress to track down the man who placed the skinned cow head,” he added.
Police are investigating the case under Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing insult to religion.
Rayer courted controversy when he called Umno leaders ‘celaka’ (damn) during the Penang State Assembly session last month.
Meanwhile, Penang Gerakan chairman Teng Chang Yeow has condemned the act of leaving the skinned cow head in front of Rayer’s house.
“If you have something to say to Rayer, do it face to face. Don’t do something unacceptable in our multiracial society.”
Teng also reminded Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that the cow head incident was not a frivolous matter.
He was referring to Ahmad Zahid’s remark that the incident was the result of Rayer’s “celaka” remark against Umno leaders.
