primark_mos2New Delhi, July 3 – Primark, an Irish clothing retailer, has recently become quite talked about: not for slashing prices or an enviable collection, but for what lies inside the clothes it is retailing.

primark_mos1A shopper Rebecca Williams, 21, reportedly purchased clothes from Primark’s Swansea store, only to go back home and discover a hidden message on one of the labels. A label on her blue polka-dotted top read ‘”Degrading” sweatshop conditions’. As one can imagine, Rebecca was appalled, reports Metro.co.uk.

This recent development reportedly follows what happened earlier when yet another shopped 25-year-old Rebecca Gallagher discovered a label inside her summer dress that read ‘Forced to work exhausting hours’.

primark_mos3gThe two shoppers reportedly don’t know each other and have made the conscious decision of never buying clothes from the chain again. The brand reportedly received a lot of criticism over having exploited its workers overseas in an effort to mimimise production cost to self while delivering the goods to the consumer.

primark_storyThe latest development seems to have made the matter more serious though, considering some are suspecting these to be rogue labels strategically placed on the clothes by campaigners protesting the brand’s work model. Meanwhile the shoppers have reportedly been asked to hand the clothes back until ‘further investigation’.
