THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, July 4 – South Indian state of Kerala plans to open more cyber police stations to curb rising cases of online fraud, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told the Legislative Assembly recently that the two stations will be set up in Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts to crack down on cyber crime.
At present, the state has one cyber police station in the capital city and has operated under the jurisdiction of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) official since 2009.
Chennithala said the government is also planning to set up a cyberdome at IT hub Technopark here to coordinate investigations into various kinds of online fraud.The number of cyber crimes reported in the state rose from 73 in 2009 to more than 500 cases last year.
