He said the RM30 million interchange, once completed, would link the Gombak District (Kuala Lumpur) to the dual carriageway expressway to the coastal area of the Kuala Selangor district in the north-western region of Selangor.
“With the completion of the Kundang Interchange, the existing Kundang Interchange configuration will become a full diamond interchange with signalised junctions.
“This will benefit more than 60,000 people commuting between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Selangor and cut travelling time to only half an hour, he told reporters during a site visit to the Kundang Interchange here today.
Amran said about 120,000 people in Kundang, Kuang and Bandar Tasik Puteri would benefit from the interchange with more road users expected to use the Latar Expressway. The government had on July 25, 2012, approved the upgrading Kundang into a full diamond interchange with full exit ramps from Latar Expressway to JKR B149.
“This will create greater efficiency in the use of the expressway and increase response time in the event of untoward incidents,” he added. He said the expressway would have a 24/7 traffic monitoring centre to collect real time information and analyses and disseminate them to motorists in real time.
