KOTA KINABALU, July 20 — Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) lecturer, Ng Shi Ing, one of the passengers of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH17 that crashed in Ukraine , had plans to further her studies for a doctorate degree at Antwerp University, Belgium. Her colleague at UMS, Dr Lee Kean Wah said Ng was keen to pursue her studies there as one of the university’s professors had expertise in the field of psychology and education.
He said Ng, 33, who hailed from Muar, Johor and was attached to USM’s Psychology and Education Faculty majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) also took the opportunity to present a working paper based on her study at Antwerp University when she was invited to attend the Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) conference.
“She was also to take the opportunity while in Belgium to widen her network with experts in the relevant fields,” he told Bernama here. Dr Lee, who had known Ng since the last six years, was saddened by her demise and described her as a professional, confident and dedicated individual, well loved by her students.
