PHNOM PENH, Feb 21 – A 2-year-old boy has died of Avian Influenza H5N1, bringing death toll to seven and total cases in Cambodia to eight this year, Xinhua news agency reported. The boy, who lived in Angkor Chey district of Southwestern Kampot province, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday some 18 hours after he was admitted to the Kantha Bopha Hospital in Phnom Penh.
Last week, a 3-year-old girl from the same district died of the virus at the same hospital . Cambodia sees the worst outbreak of the virus this year since it was first identified in January 2004. A total of 29 cases and 26 deaths have been reported in the country so far.
