Technical fault in alarm system triggers woodlands checkpoint lockdown

SINGAPORE, Aug 16- The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) says a technical fault in the alarm system had caused a 40-minute lockdown at the Woodlands Checkpoint on Thursday.

In a statement, it said an alarm was triggered at the Woodlands Checkpoint about 8.30 last night.As part of its security protocol, ICA said the checkpoint underwent lockdown

while its officers investigated the cause of the alarm.

It was established that there was no incident and the trigger was due to a technical fault in the alarm system.The checkpoint resumed operations about 40 minutes later.

ICA sought the understanding and cooperation from travellers as it needed to conduct thorough investigations into the cause of the alarm and mitigate the incident quickly.
