Narendra_ModiNew Delhi, August 21-Prime minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugrated the Dharamjaigarh power grid in Ranchi and spoke to the people on the development of Jharkhand.

Here are ten salient points from his speech:

Jharkhand has the potential to beat Gujarat. Why should Jharkhand stay backward?

The new power transmission lines will connect the east with the west. The power transmission lines will help change the face of Jharkhand.

The government you have elected in the Lok Sabha polls wants a balanced India, and not east or west, north or south India.

State ministers, MPs, delegations have to do the rounds of New Delhi to get something done in the state. 10 years go by in a blink without any development. But that has changed. Centre’s conviction: If India has to go forward, the states have to go forward. The Centre wants to be the facilitator, helper in a state’s progress.

This region has great potential for industrial development. Look at Jamshedpur. Someone must have seen the potential to set up industry here.

Jharkhand will be benefitted with Rs.400 crore every year. For this Hemant Soren did not have to come to Delhi with a memorandum. The Centre has come to you because we have to unite the country and progress together.

A new gas grid will help in transmission of cooking gas – Jagdishpur-Haldia gas line. With this in the east, cities such as Gorakhpur, Patna, Varanasi, Jamshedpur, Durgapur or Asansol, will get gas, just like water from the tap.

We want a Digital India. Mobile phone has made its place in the adivasi life of Jharkhand. The objective of digital India: the government is not in Ranchi, not in Delhi, but in your palms. With digital power, Jharkhand’s progress is imminent.

Jharkhand is now 13-14 years old. Parents take proper care of their kids at this age, because at this critical age the kid decides what to do in life. Similarly, Jharkhand has to decide what it should look like when it becomes 18. It’s dreams, planning and infrastructure has to be decided now by Jharkhand’s people.

This is the land of Birsa Munda, and we must stand together and brave the odds like him for a better Jharkhand.
