redmiNew Delhi, August 25 – After the success of Xiaomi Mi 3, the Chinese company is all set to take its next step in India. And that step is Redmi 1S. Xiaomi on Thursday posted a cryptic image on its Facebook page for India, asking fans to guess the product hidden inside it. “Mi fans, we have something really cool in the making for you. Remember to check this page tomorrow,” the company wrote.

But considering the launch schedule of Xiaomi products in India it is certain that the company would introduce Redmi 1S today. It had earlier said that the Redmi 1S would be launched in India by the end of August at a price of Rs 6,999.

It is expected that Xiaomi will follow the same flash sale model for Redmi 1S that it has used for Mi 3. This means today it will ask consumers to pre-register for the device while the actual sale is likely start a few days before the end of August.

xiaomi_redmi_note_official-630x460Flipkart, which is the only authorised retailer for Xiaomi products in India, already has a page up for Redmi 1S. Though this page currently doesn’t show the image of the product or its price. But it lists specifications and tells consumers that the device is coming soon.

Redmi 1S is an entry-level device and will compete against the devices like Moto E and Zenfone 5. However, just the way Xiaomi Mi 3 has best-in-class hardware, Redmi 1S too is going to offer good hardware at affordable prices.

The device has a 4.7-inch screen with 720P resolution. It is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor running at 1.6GHz. It will come with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The phone supports two SIM cards, has an 8-megapixel primary camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera and support for microSD card.

StarHub_XiaomiRedmi_NewsRedmi 1S uses Android 4.3, customized with MIUI user interface. Xiaomi’s flash sale model has created a lot of buzz for the company but it has also led to angry consumers, who wanted to buy Mi 3 but couldn’t .

Considering the low price of Redmi 1S, it is possible that this device too may prove popular with consumers and buying it may prove even more difficult than getting a Mi 3 unit.
