PUTRAJAYA, Aug 25 – The Election Commission (EC) is to meet on Friday to determine the date for the Pengkalan Kubor state by-election in Kelantan.
It said in a statement on Monday that EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof would chair the meeting at 9 am at the EC headquarters here.
Abdul Aziz is scheduled to hold a press conference after the meeting, it said.
The Pengkalan Kubor seat fell vacant on Aug 20 following the death of the assemblyman, Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar, of the Barisan Nasional.
Noor Zahidi had retained the seat for the BN for the third term by beating a PKR candidate and an independent by a majority of 1,736 votes in the general election held last year.
