SHAH ALAM, Aug 30 – Selangor PAS will hold discussions on the potential candidates to be the new Selangor Menteri Besar.The party’s state liaison commissioner, Iskandar Abdul Samad said for the moment, it was holding on to the stand made by the party leadership which had decided to back a candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
“The matter will be discussed internally. However, the decision (for the candidate for Menteri Besar) will be decided by PAS national headquarters,” he told reporters, here today.Iskandar, who is also a Selangor exco member, denied allegations that he was one of the candidates for the Selangor MB post besides PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail.
“So far, there have been no discussions to suggest anyone for exco or state assemblymen from PAS as menteri besar…any decision on the matter would only be made by PAS headquarters,” he said.
In a statement issued yesterday, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali stressed that the party would only nominate a state assemblyman from PKR as candidate for the new Selangor menteri besar.Mustafa said PAS would nominate no less than two names to Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah before Sept 3.
