NEW DELHI, Sept 3 – Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has emerged as the most popular Indian celebrity on Twitter after reaching 10 million followers.
An elated Bachchan, who will turn 72 next month, thanked his followers and tweeted: “10 million!! On Twitter!! Next target 20 (million)!!”Among other Indian stars, Shah Rukh Khan has the second most followers at 8.74 million followed by Aamir Khan (8.13 million), Salman Khan (7.99 million) and Priyanka Chopra (6.8 million).
Bachchan first gained popularity in the early 1970s for movies such as “Deewar” and “Zanjeer”.He was dubbed India’s first “angry young man” for his film roles in Bollywood and has since appeared in over 180 films in a career spanning more than four decades.Bachchan recently celebrated the record of having more than 15 million “likes” on his official Facebook page.
