IFA 2014: Top smartphones launched on Day 1!

SamsungGalaxyNote4New Delhi, September 6 – IFA’s first day saw many companies launching their next-generation smartphones. But of these some really stood out. We tell you more about the smartphones that were in demand on the exhibition floor of the IFA.

1.    Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

After much anticipation, Samsung finally unveiled Galaxy Note 4. The gadget comes with a S Pen stylus which has enhanced grip and advanced features. Its snapnote feature turns photographs of printed documents into editable text, quite similar to OCR editor.

The device also features a 5.7-inch screen, 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and also houses a 3.7MP front camera with a f/1.9 aperture lens. The device comes packed with an advanced 3200 mAh battery, which can be charged to up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and offers LTE Cat 4 connectivity.

2.    Samsung Note Edge:

Samsung Note Edge mirrors Note 4 in terms of specifications. It comes with the 5.6 inch Super AMOLED screen with 1600X2560 pixels resolution. The device has a 3000 mAh battery, which is a little smaller than the one in Note 4 and runs on the same Android 4.4 KitKat OS. Other than this it is the first Note phone to feature a QHD display.

3.    Sony Xperia Z3:

Sony unveiled its flagship smartphone Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact at the pre-IFA event. Xperia Z3 is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core processor and Snapdragon 801 chipset, which is also featured in Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8, 3GB RAM and Adreno 330 graphics.

Z3 comes with a 5.2 inch 1080P triluminios display and 16/32 GB internal storage expandable to up to 128 GB with microSD card. It boasts of a 3100 mAh battery which is enough to last for 2 days, as claimed by the company. The Xperia Z3 is a waterproof and dust-proof device with an IP65/68 rating.

Xperia Z3 Compact is a pint-sized version of Z3 and mirrors it in most of the specifications. Z3 Compact sports a smaller screen size and battery measuring 4.6 inches and 2600 mAh respectively.

5.    Sony Xperia E3:

Xperia E3 is an entry-level smartphone and falls in sub-$100 range. The device features 4.5 inch display, 5 MP rear camera and 4 GB internal storage which can be expanded to up to 32 GB. E3 is powered by a 1.2 GHz RAM coupled with a quad-core Qualcomm processor and a 2330 mAh battery that boasts of Sony’s excellent stamina mode.

6.    Microsoft Lumia 830:

Lumia 830, which runs on Windows 8.1 OS, has been launched as Microsoft’s ‘Affordable Flagship’ device and will compete with devices including iPhone 5S, as claimed by the brand.

Lumia 830 comes with a 5-inch display and features a 10 MP rear camera accompanied by a LED flash. It sports 16 GB internal storage expandable to up to 128 GB, a quad-core Snapdragon chipset packed with a 2200 mAh battery. The device is expected to have a price tag of around INR 26,000-INR 27,000.

7.    Microsoft Lumia 730 and Lumia 735:

Microsoft unveiled Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 as selfie phones, since both smartphones house 5 MP front facing camera. Nokia Lumia 730 features 4.7 inch display, 6.7 MP rear camera with f/1.9 lense, 1.2 GHz processor, 8GB internal storage with a microSD support. Lumia 735 comes with 4G LTE connectivity.
